  13. DayDream BBS is written in 100% assembler and is therefor one of the
  14. fastest BBS programs availiable on Amiga today.
  15.  
  16. Features
  17. ~~~~~~~~
  18.  - DayDream  BBS  looks  like  AmiExpress, which is a much loved and hated
  19.    BBS software. Most of the people who like AmiExpress like it because of
  20.    it's simpliness and  because it's very fast to use. However, AmiExpress
  21.    requires a very fast CPU to operate smoothly and the configurability is
  22.    rather poor too. DayDream fixes the major problems found in AmiX.
  23.  
  24.  - 100%  assembly  code.   DayDream  is  probably the fastest BBS-software
  25.    ever.
  26.  
  27.  - Number of conferences is limited to 64.  Each conference can have up to
  28.    254  messagebases and  fileareas.  64*254 = 16256 (or for Pentium users
  29.    16255.999999987.)
  30.  
  31.  - Maximum  security.   Each user can have their own securitysettings, but
  32.    defaults  are taken by securitylevel.  Every command in DayDream can be
  33.    toggled on/off.
  34.  
  35.  - Basic  utilities  and  doors are included in distribution archive.  For
  36.    example:    Faker,   whof,   new,  top list -utilities, weektop etc.
  37.  
  38.  - Configuration is done  via an ascii file.  This enables quick modifica-
  39.    tions to the BBS'  settings.  Asciifile  is converted  to  binaryformat
  40.    with  utility  called  DreamConfig.     It takes about 1 sec to compile
  41.    the datafiles with it.
  42.  
  43.  - If you don't like editing Textfile, there's a MUI based configprogram
  44.    included. (Read MUIConfig.DOC!)
  45.  
  46.  - Superb  upload handling.  Full support  for file_id.diz, gets date from
  47.    file_id.diz (if  wanted),  built-in offline  checking, adds file_id.diz
  48.    to archives if it didn't exist etc.
  49.  
  50.  - Strings  and  prompts  can be re-defined, so you can customize your BBS
  51.    any way you like.
  52.  
  53.  - You  can  have  254  different displaymodes.  Each displaymode can have
  54.    it's own  characterconversiontables  (=no  more linefeeds), prompts and
  55.    strings and textfiles.
  56.  
  57.  - Multinode  support.  Supports up  to 254 nodes in theory. I suppose you
  58.    can have at least 5 nodes  on regular  030  without  too high CPU-Load.
  59.  
  60.  - Door formats supported: DayDream, ARexx, Paragon, stdio. AmiExpress
  61.    preudo-rexx "XIM" doors work via external emulation.
  62.  
  63.  - Supports XPR-Protocols, Hydra+SModem (Bidirectional w/ chat).

  65.  - Supports FTP-transfers. There's a custom ftpd for DD to have on-the-fly
  66.    dupechecking.
  67.  
  68.  - Cheap. DayDream costs only 300SEK or 55USD.

  70.  - Everything else except DDHydra and SModem can be made resident!
